Thermography is the measurement and recording of heat. Modern infrared cameras record infrared images and measure the temperatures of target objects. Areas for investigation are displayed as hot or cold spots in relation to their surroundings.
Within BREEAM a credit is available (Man01). This requires a thermographic survey to be carried out of the building fabric. The survey must confirm the continuity of insulation, avoidance of excessive thermal bridging, and avoidance of air leakage paths through the building fabric.
