Thermal Imaging

thermThermography is the measurement and recording of heat. Modern infrared cameras record infrared images and measure the temperatures of target objects. Areas for investigation are displayed as hot or cold spots in relation to their surroundings.

BREEAM credit (Man 01)

Within BREEAM a credit is available (Man01). This requires a thermographic survey to be carried out of the building fabric. The survey must confirm the continuity of insulation, avoidance of excessive thermal bridging, and avoidance of air leakage paths through the building fabric.

Gladwood can also offer the following diagnostic surveys for buildings:

  • Continuity of Insulation Surveys
  • Air Leakage / Heat loss
  • Sound / Noise Leakage
  • Moisture and Mould
  • Construction Defects
  • Electrical, Mechanical and Under Floor Heating Systems
  • Roof Leaks

Thermographic surveys require the following conditions in order to carry out the survey:

  • Temperature difference of >10k
  • Wind speed of <5m/s
  • No solar radiation
  • No rain or mist or fog
  • Heating or Cooling in operation
  • Temperature not changing
