Conservation of Fuel and Power in

New Dwellings

Part L1A is the guidance document that should be used when assessing new build dwelling such as houses and apartments. This Regulation requires a calculation to be carried out on all new dwellings to estimated the amount of Carbon Dioxide produced by the dwelling every year. This figure is then measured against a Target Carbon Dioxide Emission Rate (TER) to determine if the building can be approved. A sample of all new dwellings would also have to be subjected to an air permeability test. This would normally be one of every house type within the development, but for single bespoke house designs every house would require testing.

Gladwood (BCS) can undertake the Carbon Dioxide Emission calculation using SAP 2005 software, and perform the air permeability test at completion of the building work. We are also able to issue SAP Certificates and from July 2007 should be able to issue Energy Performance Certificates (EPC)
