Daylight/Sunlight impact reports for planning applications.
Gladwood use IES <Virtual Environment> dynamic modelling software which addresses the low-carbon challenges faced by today’s building designers.
This allows you to design and operate comfortable buildings that consume significantly less energy. The software allows designers to test different design options, identify best passive solutions, compare low-carbon technologies, and draw conclusions on CO2 emissions, occupant comfort, light levels, airflow, Part L, BREEAM, EPC ratings.

To this end if we are involved in your project for Part L compliance it is a straightforward exercise to assess the buildings design for natural daylight. This is an exercise sometimes asked for as part of your Planning Application, and it’s also a way of achieve BREEAM credit ‘HEA 1’ Daylighting.
In order to prove a building has acceptable daylighting as a general rule 80% of net lettable floor area must be adequately daylit with an average daylight factor of 2% or more and a uniformity ratio of at least 0.4. Gladwood can put together the required reports to satisfy BREEAM and Planning Departments.
